This is a two-day African American celebration of Kwanzaa on Monday, Dec. 26, and Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022, at the Midtown Global Market. The celebrations include a variety of performances including singing, dancing, storytelling, and more. Each day will be hosted by Elder Atum Azzahir- Emcee, Brother T. Mychael Rambo- Cultural Ceremonialist and Vocalist, and Brother Robert Taylor- Food Artist/Culinary Heritage Specialist
Both days’ events and activities are FREE of charge.
FIRST DAY of Kwanzaa – Monday, December 26
- 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. The theme is “Umoja” Unity. Elder acknowledgment, age stage gifting and delicious food.
- 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Singing by the Give Get Sistet, Storytelling by Elder Beverly Cottman, African dance performed by Sister Kenna Cottman
SECOND DAY of Kwanzaa – Tuesday, December 27
- 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. The theme is “Kujichagulia” Self Determination
Elder acknowledgment, age stage gifting and more delicious food.
- 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Vocals performed by Brother Gevonee Ford and piano & vocalist Brother Will Wesley.
Children’s book reading by Sister Jamie Carter, Sankofa Children’s Book Reader.
Ramp and Street Parking are available. Ramp parking is located off Lake Street and 10th Ave.
